Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/Chicago' for 'CDT/-5.0/DST' instead in /backup/qa/www/sub/rss/product.php on line 32

This is a very good product. I had programmed my first drum sequence within 15 mins of starting. Very intuitive to use, love the way it works as a standalone as well as a plugin for Logic (and others). When activated make sure you download all the factory content and extra kits (from your account page). This adds hundreds of additional kits and samples (the basic programme does not have these pre-installed). I also purchased one of the iPhone apps to enable me to wirelessly send new patterns to my phone which is very useful. I would like to see an update to export a complete arranged song to iPhone though.

It's very eazy to use.
And it has nice preset sounds which are useful for all kind of music.
I had to search and add free expantion sound files from the web thought.
It would be better if I can add my own audio files into iDrum and vice versa.
Anyhow,

Most software for drum sounds only deal with loops and you can't write your own patterns like a drum machine. With iDrum you can use your own samples and create your own patters and string them together for songs. You can record your finished track into your DAW just like if you created the track on your drum machine. Even export as a wav file!
You can use loops and grooves too. I don't understand why someone would use loops to create a song, but it is there.
Two problems though. You only get 4 beats per measure. Well, actually up to 7. But I would think most need 8 beats. 4 is just too many paterns to string together.
The other problem is the song panel or window, (whatever pops up when you click the "E"). I don't know what "E" stands for, but you click that and you can string your created patterns together.

One problem there is, there is no number to reference that pattern in your song.
For example, I keep a chart that is a list of measures in my song and what number patern will go to that measure. In iDrum the list would just be maybe: Patern 1, repeat twice, patern 2, patern 7, then patern 1, patern 7.... whatever it is. Now if I am playing back and I notice I need to add a crash somewhere in the song on measure 19, how will I possibly find it on the list in iDrum without reading the entire list and figuring out where that point in the song is.
If the steps were numbered, I can look over to my notes or chart and think, oh, it is step 29, I need to edit that.
Another problem is when you press the "add" to add a patern to the iDrum song window. It puts the current pattern just abuve the patern that is highlighted in the list and moves the current one down!
Why would it do that? I want to add the next pattern on the list, not insert patern above the last one. There should be an insert button for that. That is not logical at all. I would have to edit both the second to last and last pattern number to get what I want.

I have been using iDrum on my Mac for a couple years now, and it's a great feeling and privilege to know that now I have access to it within my pocket on my iPhone. Making music on this iPhone App makes making drum sequences one of the easiest experiences for the beginner or the advanced user. I showed it to my girlfriend and she got the hang of it within a couple of hours. It allows you to specify which sound you want on each track along with volume levels for each beat and even track audio panning. You can even enable the "live" drum synth pads, which allow you to edit tracks live by tapping your fingers to the beat!.. Along with lots of other capabilities.

A couple drawbacks that I have experienced so far are:

1. You are allowed to save your progress with a project you create, but there is no option to export it so that you can view and edit the beat within the Mac version of iDrum.

2. I haven't yet found a way to import my own samples, clips, or sounds into the sounds archive. I may have missed something, but if the option isn't there, it REALLY should be so that everyone's beats don't sound the same.
I believe these things would be important to focus on in future releases.

Overall though, I love it for everything that it is and hope that iZotope keeps making it better and keeps making products similar to this.

Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/Chicago' for 'CDT/-5.0/DST' instead in /backup/qa/www/sub/rss/product.php on line 46

Tried it on a wallstreet 233mhz and that did not work. I was hoping for a low-fat drum machine but this wasn't it. It wouldn't keep tempo. Was drumming like a drummer in a roller coaster. No good. Idea was to use it like an hi tech metronome while playing guitar but as said; no go.
